FOR My PROject”
Partly due to the rugged
julIette PeaRce, PeRu,
terrain which makes it so
aPRIl 2008
awe-inspiring, Peru’s rural
population remains very poor.
Based in remote mountainous locations
where agriculture and life in general is very
old-fashioned, Peruvian vil ages benefit greatly
from improvements to their basic infrastructure.
Some of our recent Peruvian projects include
building community centres and classrooms,
renovating children’s homes and also pipe-
laying projects aimed at bringing clean
drinking water and irrigation to isolated
rural communities.
Time is also spent entertaining and teaching
in the local schools and orphanages where
children respond with broad smiles whenever
sport, art and music is introduced. English is
the most commonly taught subject where
volunteers using creative teaching methods
can see rapid improvement with local adults
often requesting evening classes.
Most volunteers take advantage of Cuzco’s
incredible location to explore the dramatic
mountains, val eys and numerous outdoor
activities or to visit nearby Inca ruins
at weekends.
