The Senior School
Sport
Whatever your age, you will have the opportunity to compete in a wide range of
sports at school and House level and you can take part in and enjoy sports and
games almost every day of the week. The major sports are rugby, hockey, rowing,
netball and cricket but there are many others.
The School is extremely well equipped with playing fields, sports hall, fitness and
conditioning gym and an ergometer room for rowing training. We also have our
own indoor swimming pool, all-weather pitch, squash courts, and a Boat House
only three minutes’ walk from the School in the shadow of Durham Cathedral.
We organise an annual ski strip and regular sports tours, some of which are abroad
Girlsʼ hockey on the all-weather pitch
to countries like Barbados, Hong Kong and Australia.
Many of our pupils regularly represent the school at area, county, divisional and
national levels; perhaps you will go on to play professionally for your country!
Our highly qualified and experienced staff will help you to take full advantage of the
facilities and to develop your interests and abilities.  Above all, everyone contributes
and that’s what makes sport here very special.
