memento. We Indians never return

something for their best friends. The

done on your Irish holiday. Plus, not just

tional and designer clothes, woollies and
accessories. The downside is that every-
thing is so lovely, that you might not want
to part with any of it.
Here’s another gift idea. Forget the stan-
dard buys of chocolate and cheese at Duty
Free, and pick up fantastic typically Irish
varieties of both these products from

stores.The double advantage is that you
can pack these foods into your check-in
bags which will keep them colder, and
your shoulders lighter on the long airport
trek. Irish shopping centres are sightsee-
ing attractions in themselves. Some large
malls also have professionally supervised
crèches where children aged 3 to 10 can
play with lots of toys and games in the
company of kids their own age, while you
shop in peace. As we all know the ‘drop’
which rhymes with ‘shop’ comes much
faster if you have a non-cooperative
youngster in tow.
