Sagrika
Keshav
Sagrika is a dedicated wife and mother nurturing her children’s many talents, but is a
creative entrepreneur too. She has a successaful design studio turning out sophisticated
brocade blouses to team with the one-of-a-kind saris she
creates or orders, mainly from her native Banaras.
These roots in one of the world’s oldest centres of
knowledge explain the way she raises her family.
Keshav, chubby, bespectacled and 8,
is such a charmer with his repartee and
ǯ ϐ
he has anything more on his mind than boyish mischief. Yet, his specialty is chess, and
like his sister is also being trained in music.
Like their Dad, they love fast cars; and like their mother excel in art and mind games.
Everyone enjoys new places, new food, new outdoor sports, and they seek out as many
new experiences as career and classwork permit.
Gaurika and Keshav attend Bombay International School, which was ‘international’ and
multidimensional in its attitude to education long before either the label or the approach
became fashionable. If the Rai children revel in the extra curricular, and question to
discover rather than to defy, it is a signature of, both, their schooling and their upbringing.
