There is much more to the East than Dublin,
exciting though this capital city of the Republic
is. This region stretches from the Irish Sea to
the mighty river Shanon half way across the
country, and comprises the counties of Cavan,
Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath,
Monaghan, Offaly, Westermeath and Wicklow.
Ireland’s East Coast is a fusion of history,
culture and natural beauty, which offers a
unique opportunity to explore the many
stages of Ireland’s rich heritage. The relics
are here because the valley of the River
Boyne in County Meath was the most impor-
tant centre of habitation in the Stone Age
and thereabouts. The region is known as
the cradle of Irish civilization and the
spiritual home of its native Celts, so it is
especially attractive to Indian families who
are always keen to expose their
children to other cultures.
From the historical county of
Meath with its famous Hill
of  Tara and megalithic
Newgrange site, to the
‡……އ•‹ƒ•–‹…ƒŽ ƒ‰‹ϐ‹…‡…‡
of Clonmacnoise in County
Offaly, the East Coast is a
treasure trove of Irish
heritage. Your children will
have much to tell their
geography teacher and gym
instructor in addition to their
Social Sciences Miss about the East
Coast and Midlands. The landscape is
a mixture of the rugged, and the tranquil.
