Dinkar is steeped in Hindu
traditions but tosses off Urdu
poetry as spontaneously as
international market trends.
Mom Sagrika looks equally
stunning in Indian saris as when she
is dressed in Western wear designed by
herself. The children love malls, but have
been scrupulously taught the value of money.
Indeed, much effort is put into the inculcation of traditional Indian values and Hindu
philosophy, both formally and informally. Gaurika, for instance can belt out a number
from Rapper Rihanna, but trains very seriously with her classical Hindustani music guru.
She studies piano as well.
Dinkar is a successful investment banker. He is something of a workaholic, and always
connected. A history buff, he also loves big bikes, fast cars, and leisurely cigars.
Gaurika, 12, has won several awards and
has even cut a solo disc of Hindustani
devotional songs. On the threshold
of her teens, she is a delightful
and sometimes awkward mix
of grown-up and little girl.
