The Rais mom, dad, daughter and son are
a typical, upper middle-class, urban, Indian
family. They live on their own in their large
Mumbai apartment, but they are closely
attached to grandparents who often visit
from Delhi and Banaras. They are globalised,
but their heart beats with India. They
demolish pizzas and aloo-paratha with
equal gusto, just as they move with
unbiased ease between English and Hindi
(and sometimes Hinglish).
